ARTIST TALK WITH MELISSA VOGLEY WOODS
Melissa Vogley Woods (she/her) is a multi-generational caregiver, multidisciplinary visual artist, and educator born and residing in Columbus, Ohio. Her work delves into the intricacies of care within relationships with a specific focus on barriers and how we bridge them through the romanticization and utilization of plants. She was nominated for the National USA Fellowship, received two Ohio Art Council Individual Artist Grants and Greater Columbus Artist Grant and has exhibited locally, nationally, and internationally in such institutions as Wexner Center, Columbus Museum of Art, Raskolnikov Galerie, Dresden, Germany, Museum of Sisters Aslamazyan in Armenia, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Her work is in the collections of the Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus Museum of Art and the Columbus Public Libraries. She attended Mass MoCA, Vermont Studio Center, Wassaic Projects Residencies and her work has been written about in the Brooklyn Rail.
